The River Rat Writing Prize is open to any current Huron student. Each student may submit one (1) entry for consideration. Student work will be blind judged by a committee of cross-curricular department members of the Huron faculty. The winners will be notified by email and published on this website. Students are encouraged to submit classroom work.
Please follow these guidelines carefully to ensure your entry receives consideration:
-Entries must be less than 2500 words.
-Entries must be submitted at or prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be considered.
-Only one entry submission allowed per student. All subsequent entries will be deleted.
-Entires must be from one writer only. No group submissions will be accepted.
-Entries must be submitted via the Google form from the "Submit an Entry" link on this site's home page.
- Create or upload a file on your Google account.
- "Get shareable link" and update the sharing settings of your file to "Anyone with the link CAN VIEW".
- Fill out the Google form to submit your entry including your shareable link. Do not copy the browser address. You must use the url address Google creates when you SHARE.
- Flash fiction
- Short fiction
- Creative nonfiction
- Nonfiction essay
- Poetry [No more than 10 poems. Multiple poems submitted by one (1) student will be considered as one (1) entry.]
-Student names and grade levels will not be shared with the judging committee.
